After her grandmother’s death, Johanna moves to Vienna to be close to her brother. There, among the baroque castles and gardens of the bustling capital, she struggles to restart her life. Finding her passion through a cooking school, Johanna is soon intrigued by the attentions of handsome Thomas, who is eager to make Johanna his own. Thomas works hard to win her trust, but just as they establish a fragile faith in each other, Thomas receives news the job of his dreams is waiting in New York. Anchored by family and her hard-won sense of belonging, Johanna remains in Vienna. Can Johanna and Thomas’s passion survive a distance of four thousand miles? Told with humor and grace, Wait for Me in Vienna paints a portrait of two lovers helping one another emerge from isolation, risking their hearts for a chance at that one great love.

If a 15 yr old had written this, I would be very impressed. It actually hooked me for a good while. I realized early that it was to be a pretty predictable and basic romance. However---it took me back to Vienna, the characters were well developed, and I didn't mind it at all. I used to read tons of classic romance novels at age 15 and, now as a senior, it reminded me of that time.

But when it climaxed early and there were so many pages left, I was intrigued and kept reading. Then scanning . . . Reading some. Scanning. Scanning, reading, careful not to miss anything important. Turned out there was nothing but cute sophomoric banter and reams of e-mails for almost 200 pages. Really??? Then, at the very end things take a tragic and, I must say, unsatisfying turn. Not bad writing overall. Better than I could do, but laughably predictable, and way too much useless dialogue and not nearly enough plot. I felt the author was showing off. The e-mail idea was cutely done--good idea--but readers just want to get the gist not literally read a bunch of mail. Not interesting.

I don't write reviews ever because others do it so much better than I can, but this book has so few reviews, and I care about this author, so that's why decided to critic. If I ever set down, not ever haven written anything, and pulled off something this decent. I would put it out there to see what happens. So if that is the case here then, Bravo!! Keep trying. Wait for Me in Vienna eBook Lana N May Terry Laster Reviews

I didn't really enjoy this book. There was not much substance, The end was a surprise!
Really bad--I bought it for the title because I had been to Vienna and hoped to revisit it in a story line, read part of it hoping it would get better--gave up finally--totally predictable-- embellishment of sentences do not make them more interesting.
'Wait for Me in Vienna' started off really well with Johanna being a very ordinary girl, who kept to herself after losing her Parents while young, and then lived with her Grandmother, until she moved into a 'Rest Home' and passed away. All alone, without friends, her brother, Matthew, persuaded her to go and live with him in Vienna.
Here she meets Matthew's girlfriend, who takes Johanna under her wing, and introduces her to fashion.
After a very brief relationship, she meets the ' man of her dreams' and doesn't realise he is her brother's best friend.
After a very rough patch, she declares her love for Thomas, and he for her.
Then Thomas is sent to New York, to take over another new Business for his Uncle, meaning a lot of time away from Johanna. From here I I started to 'shim' the pages, and ended up going to get my box of tissues. Felt sad, would have liked a more romantic ending????? 😂😭
Great book and a twist.
I would recommend the book for a light easy reading. Kept my interest.
Great read!
I loved this book right up to the very end. I won't give it away but it was a rather weak, to my mind, ending. However, all in all, it was a lovely book, well written and conceived.
